50% OFF 2 WHOLE ROASTER CHICKENS ENDS SUNDAY
What makes Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry different from other chickens?

1. Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry are raised outdoors on pasture.
Commercially produced chickens are raised entirely indoors with tens of thousands of other chickens in close quarters. They typically never see the sun or pasture. Organic or "Free Range" chickens also have no standard definition or industry guidelines for how long chickens must be outdoors on pasture, leaving the consumer very confused. The USDA definition of "free-range" is rather vague. In order to label their meat and poultry "free-range or free-roaming", "Producers must demonstrate to the Agency that the poultry has been allowed access to the outside." (1) No mention of vegetation (pasture) is made. Poultry producers themselves seem to have no common standards on what the term means. Some producers interpret "access to the outside" as a small pop-door (chicken door) on an end-wall of a 100 ft. long shed filled with un-caged birds moving about freely on a litter-covered floor. Others feel they are compliant with the spirit of free-range if their birds are outside in the open air and under the sun; even if their "range" is simply bare dirt.

When it comes to the consumer's perception of "free-range", arguably the vision that "free-range" most often conjures is of a bird happily hunting and pecking in the grass in an open field. Because of the wholesomeness associated with the term "organic," many consumers take for granted that all certified organic poultry raised for meat and eggs are raised outside on green pasture. Sadly, this is not so. The term "free-range" is not even listed in the NOP (National Organic Program) "terms defined."(2) They do give guidelines that say: "All organically raised animals must have access to the outdoors..."(3) So when someone purchases poultry products labeled "free range" or "organic," the birds may never have actually seen the light of day or green grass its entire life. Technically, they simply have to have a door out of their confinement, but they don't have to necessarily walk through that door to meet the requirements.

2. Tropical Traditions pastured poultry are fed Cocofeed which contains no soy.
Cocofeed is an organic chicken-feed ration developed by Tropical Traditions that contains coconut pulp as well as other high-quality natural ingredients. The coconut pulp is the residue left over after coconut oil has been extracted from the coconut meat. Cocofeed contains NO soy.

In tropical cultures, coconut has been a traditional ingredient in chicken feed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The coconut pulp residue left over after coconut oil was extracted from the coconut meat is still a common animal feed component today in places where coconuts grow. This coconut pulp is high in fiber and protein. Mechanically extracted coconut pulp was also approved by the FDA as an animal feed and listed in the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials, Official Publication) as early as 1955. While coconut cannot supply ALL the nutritional needs of chickens, there are multitudes of studies that have been done in the Philippines and elsewhere showing how coconut pulp can be a major component of chicken feeds when combined with other quality ingredients. Some of these studies are more than 50 years old.

In more recent history, with the development of fast-growing "broiler" factory chickens, soy has become a key ingredient in chicken feeds for the purpose of supplying a high concentration of protein to promote fast growth. It is very difficult to find a chicken in the US market today that has not been fed high soy-based feeds. Even chickens advertised as "organic" or "free range" are almost always fed an organic mixture high in soybeans.

Independent laboratory tests have shown that Tropical Traditions pastured poultry chickens raised on Cocofeed contain lauric acid, which is also found in coconut oil and human breast milk.

3. Tropical Traditions pastured poultry are raised by family farmers.
Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry chickens are all raised by family farmers. These farmers run diversified farms practicing sustainable agriculture. They will rotate tracts of land with crops and other animals, or let it go fallow from time to time. When a batch of chickens is raised on a piece of pasture, typically that pasture will not see chickens again for two or more years. In the interval, crops may be grown in that pasture, or it may go fallow allowing grass to grow, die, and decompose so that the soil is kept in balance and not contaminated from too much chicken manure. So when you buy Tropical Traditions pastured poultry, you are supporting small-scale family farmers and by-passing the system that produces the conventional "factory chicken."

Now, through Sunday, September 5th only, you can save 50% off of our retail price for 2 whole roaster chickens averaging 5.5 – 6.0 lbs. each. Order here:

50% OFF ORGANIC VIRGIN PALM OIL ENDS SUNDAY
Tropical Traditions Virgin Palm Oil from small-scale family farmers in Africa is back in stock! Virgin Palm Oil is palm oil that is traditionally made and maintains the natural nutrients of carotenes (precursors to Vitamin A) and the antioxidant tocotrienols (Vitamin E). Typical RBD (Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized) palm oil has these nutrients stripped from them resulting in a clear oil. In its natural state, palm oil is red in color due to a high concentration of carotenes and tocols. Palm oil comes from a tropical palm tree (elaeis guineensis - NOT the same as coconut palm trees), which is native to the tropical areas of Africa, where it grows wild. It is a traditional oil used for more than 5000 years in African countries, where small-scale family farms flourish. The palm oil palm was introduced to South East Asia in the early 1900s, and Malaysia is now the world leader in exports of palm oil (Tropical Traditions does NOT source palm oil from there.) Being an introduced crop to Asia, they are mainly harvested from large plantations. Tropical Traditions Virgin Palm Oil comes from West Africa, NOT South East Asia. Our Virgin Palm Oil is produced by small-scale family producers in Africa that are certified organic. When you purchase Tropical Traditions Virgin Palm Oil, you are supporting small scale family producers in Africa, and NOT large corporate plantations in South East Asia

Now, through Sunday, September 5th, you can purchase a 1 gallon pail at 50% OFF the retail price. That is a $75.00 value for only $37.50! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/red_palm_oil.htm?s=b9210

55% OFF ORGANIC ATCHARA ENDS SUNDAY
Atchara is a traditional Filipino fermented dish made with unripe raw green papaya, fresh raw ginger root, and other raw ingredients in a vinegar base. As kimchi is to the Koreans, chutney to the Indians, and sauerkraut is to the Germans, so atchara is a traditional fermented dish valued in Philippine culture.

While most of the atchara available in the Philippines is made with distilled vinegar, Tropical Traditions decided to develop its own raw vinegar which is fermented from coconut water - the water inside coconuts. We used the water from the same certified coconuts used to make our Virgin Coconut Oil. After several years of research, we successfully fermented our organic coconut water into a healthy vinegar rich in all the minerals available in coconut water, and stable enough to keep it raw with the mother of vinegar present. This is truly a raw and "live" food that has NOT been pasteurized. The organic ingredients are listed below. All of these ingredients are supplied by small-scale family farmers, so you are supporting families in the Philippines when you purchase Tropical Traditions Atchara.

The High Quality Ingredients Used in Tropical Traditions Atchara

Green Papaya
We start with certified organic unripe green papaya grown by small-scale family farmers in the Philippines. We carefully select the wild variety of "native papaya." Japanese researchers have found that the native Philippine papaya can contain up to four times the amount of papain (a plant-based digestive enzyme) than imported varieties of papaya in the Philippines. The papaya fruit is harvested before it reaches maturity, when enzyme activity is at its highest level, and the fruit is a strong fibrous green. Filipinos often eat unripe green papaya as a vegetable, since sugar content is low in its unripe state. The digestive enzyme papain which is found in papaya has long been used as a plant-based digestive aid in enzyme supplements. Green papaya is also very high in antioxidants. Eating Tropical Traditions Atchara is the best way to eat raw green papaya short of traveling to the tropics and eating it right off the tree. The raw coconut water vinegar preserves the organic raw papaya, as well as the other raw ingredients.

Organic Raw Coconut Water Vinegar
The water inside the coconut shell is packed with nutrients that nourishes the nut as it prepares to germinate and start growing into a new coconut tree, which is exactly what would happen if you let a coconut fall from the tree to the ground and leave it there, given the proper moisture and soil conditions. Coconut water is high in many vitamins and minerals, especially potassium. Because it contains electrolytes, it is considered one of the best natural rehydrating drinks in the tropics. Pasteurized coconut water retains most of the minerals, and is frequently sold as a sports drink. Since fresh coconut water deteriorates so quickly once it is exposed to air, it is best obtained and consumed in the tropics where it can be purchased fresh, with all the nutrients and enzymes in tact. Packaged coconut waters must be pasteurized, destroying some of the nutrients. It has been reported that during World War II coconut water was used in emergencies as IV fluids, since the nutrient-packed water is completely sterile inside the coconut until the hard shell is cracked and it is exposed to air.

In the Philippines and other tropical places, raw coconut water is often left in the open air to ferment, where it eventually turns into a vinegar. The fermentation process enhances the nutrients, unlike heat pasteurization. The acidic environment prevents the growth of undesirable bacteria naturally. Tropical Traditions worked with professors at the University of the Philippines for several years to develop an incubation system that could produce clean coconut water vinegar from our certified organic coconuts (used to make our Virgin Coconut Oil) and retain the mother of vinegar (a colony of bacteria cultures) as a truly raw product. We use the mother of vinegar to inoculate future batches of organic coconut water vinegar.

Organic Whole Muscabado Sugar
We use only certified organic Muscabado whole cane sugar, grown by a cooperative of small scale family farmers in the Philippines. The sugar is also Fair Trade certified. Muscabado sugar is a whole sugar that is extracted from the sugar cane using traditional methods. It contains all the natural nutrients found in raw sugar cane or molasses. Sugar is needed in the fermentation process, and most other atcharas are made with refined white sugar, and the atchara is green in color due to the color of the papaya. Our Muscabado whole cane sugar is a deep brown in color, which gives a brown coloring to Tropical Traditions Atchara. The sugar is needed in the fermentation process, and much of it is used up during fermentation. Atchara is not sweet at all.

Organic Raw Ginger Root
Ginger is another ingredient in atchara that is known for aiding digestion. It grows well in tropical climates, and is a popular seasoning herb in many Philippine dishes, mostly cooked. As an ingredient in atchara, it is added raw and is enhanced through fermentation in the raw vinegar. Our source of ginger comes from the remote areas of Mt. Banahaw in the Philippines, far away from large cities and pollution. It is the same area where most of our Virgin Coconut Oil is produced, and the ginger is grown by small-scale family farms.

Native Tagalog Garlic
The native Philippine Tagalog garlic is much smaller than imported garlic, and prized as a much more potent and stronger garlic than larger imported varieties. We use only Tagalog garlic in Tropical Traditions Atchara, and our small-scale family farmers raising this garlic are in the process of becoming certified organic. Garlic has traditionally been known as an immune supporting herb with remarkable nutritional qualities. The Tagalog garlic is known in Asia as one of the most potent native varieties.

Sea Salt
Our sea salt is Philippine sea salt dried from the sea in rural island coastal areas.

NEW SALE: 50% OFF ORGANIC EXPELLER-PRESSED COCONUT OIL GALLONS
Tropical Traditions Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is a high quality refined coconut oil that is certified organic. This oil is processed the "old" way by what is called "physical refining." The modern way of processing coconut oil is by chemical extraction, using solvent extracts, which produces higher yields and is quicker and less expensive. Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil DOES NOT use solvent extracts. It is made the "old" way by expeller-pressed mechanical extraction. This oil is also NOT hydrogenated, and contains NO trans fatty acids. Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is made from certified organic coconuts that have NOT been treated with chemicals or fertilizers. It is certified organic according to European and USDA standards. Our Expeller-Pressed coconut oil is high in the medium chain fatty acids, such as Lauric acid. Expeller-Pressed Coconut oil is less expensive than Virgin Coconut Oil because it is machine made, and because it goes through a steam deodorizing process the taste is very bland, unlike Virgin Coconut Oil which retains the odor and taste of fresh coconuts. Some people prefer a bland, tasteless oil. Virgin Coconut Oil is unrefined, and has a much stronger taste.

Now, through Thursday, September 9th only, you can buy 1 gallon of Tropical Traditions Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil at 50% OFF the retail price. That is a $65.00 value for only $32.50!! Order here:

FREE GOLD LABEL VIRGIN COCONUT OIL PINTS ENDS THURSDAY
Our Traditional Virgin Coconut Oil is the same Virgin Coconut Oil that Tropical Traditions has sold for the past 6+ years, and has now been enhanced to the point where we have developed even higher standards for the production of this premium Virgin Coconut Oil. It contains the highest levels of antioxidants. While almost all Virgin Coconut Oils sold in the US are mass-produced, Tropical Traditions still produces their Virgin Coconut Oil by hand in small batches by family micro enterprises. Most of them have been producing Virgin Coconut oil for over 6 years. They have learned what it takes to produce the highest quality oil, such as how to hand pick the best coconuts from each harvest.

Their most recent discovery in 2007 came when certain groups in rural areas had problems with water sources. Water is needed to make the coconut milk from which the oil is extracted. Using true Filipino ingenuity, they started collecting and using the pure nutritious coconut water from inside the organic coconuts instead. They noticed that the water separated from the oil much quicker, that less heat was needed at the end, and that less filtering was needed also. The end result was a higher quality and better tasting Virgin Coconut Oil. Independent laboratory analysis shows that this new method produces even higher levels of antioxidants than first tested in 2006 by Professor Dia, which showed our Virgin Coconut Oil to contain higher amounts of antioxidants than any other Virgin Coconut Oil they had tested. So we now require all of our Virgin Coconut Oil producers to use the pure coconut water from their coconuts instead of boiled or purified tap water. This enhanced Virgin Coconut Oil with the highest levels of antioxidants is now our Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil.

Now, through Thursday, September 2nd only, you can purchase 1 pint of certified organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions and get a 2nd one FREE. That's 2 pints for the price of one! Order here:

EXPELLER-PRESSED COCONUT OIL GALLONS: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE ENDS SUNDAY
Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, is made from high quality coconuts in the Philippines. This is the "common" type oil that millions of people in Asia consume on a daily basis. It is less expensive than our certified organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil because it does not include the cost of organic certification. We get our Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, from unpolluted areas of the Philippines where pesticides and fertilizers for coconut palms are virtually unknown. The coconuts typically come from very rural areas in the Philippines, far away from major urban centers. It is also deodorized and processed the "old" way with "physical refining" that DOES NOT use solvent extracts. This is the most economical high-quality coconut oil we sell. Expeller Pressed Coconut oil is less expensive than Virgin Coconut Oil because it is machine made, and because it goes through a steam deodorizing process the taste is very bland, unlike Virgin Coconut Oil which retains the odor and taste of fresh coconuts. Some people prefer a bland, tasteless oil.

Now, through Sunday, August 29th only, you can buy 2 gallons of Tropical Traditions non-certified Expeller-pressed coconut oil for the price of 1 gallon! That is a $120.00 value for only $60.00! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/expeller-pressed_coconut_oil.htm?s=b82610

40% OFF ORGANIC MOISTURIZING CREAMS ENDS SUNDAY
Tropical Traditions skin care products are unique in the market, because we developed them based on our own high quality oils: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Organic Virgin Palm Oil, both of which are certified organic. We only use high quality organic essential oils imported from France which are distilled with low temperature and low pressure over an extended period of time. Low temperature and lower pressure have proven to be the most effective method of obtaining all of the essential constituents from the plant, and provide our products with the very best quality fragrances available.

We believe these products are of a higher quality than most high-priced brand name skin care products on the market, because of the high quality of our oils. But we have kept the prices affordable so that everyone can enjoy them.

Our 100% pure moisturizing creams are especially useful for very dry skin. Highly concentrated, they work well for overnight use, and are great for massaging into the skin. They come in 5 varieties, including one that is unscented.

Now, through Sunday, August 29th only, you can buy any variety of our moisturizing cream at 40% OFF the retail price. For example, the retail value for a jar of Lavender moisturizing cream is $19.50, but now you can purchase it for only $11.70!! Choose from the following varieties: Unscented, Baby Silk, Lavender, Peppermint, Citrus, and Arnica (for muscle massages). Order here:

NEW SALE: FREE GOLD LABEL VIRGIN COCONUT OIL PINTS

Order here:

ORGANIC COCONUT CREAM CONCENTRATE 32 OZ.: BUY 2 GET 2 FREE ENDS THURSDAY. Ends Thursday
Coconut Cream Concentrate is certified organic whole coconut meat in concentrated form. It contains no additives (not even water). The dried coconut meat is ground into a very fine powder, giving it a creamy consistency due to its high fat content. Since it is 70% fat, it is a rich source of pure virgin coconut oil. Note: this is a food, not a cooking oil.

It is an excellent ingredient for cooking and baking. Because of its low moisture content, it can be mixed right in the batter or dough of breads and pastries. It can also enhance soups, be blended with smoothies, or made into ice cream. Many people just eat it straight, or spread it on breads and crackers, because it is so delicious!

Many people have begged us to package this in larger containers, like gallons, because they consume so much. But it is not practical to package this in gallons. For one thing, during the hot summer months the coconut oil in this product turns liquid and separates, just as in other natural nut butters or peanut butter. It needs to be mixed back in. During the winter cold months, the oil gets very hard, and it is almost impossible to get the material out of a large container as it becomes literally hard as a rock. Therefore, it needs to be warmed in the winter time. So this is your chance to purchase a couple of gallons at a lower price, packaged in glass jars!

Now, through Thursday, August 26th only, you can purchase 2 quarts at the retail price and get the second 2 quarts FREE! That's a whole gallon packaged in 4 high quality glass jars. The normal retail price for this is $120.00, but now you can purchase 4 quarts for only $59.99! Order here:

50% OFF ORGANIC RAW HONEY ENDS SUNDAY
Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey comes from the frontier areas of Canada, and is only harvested during a 6-week period in the summer. Tropical Traditions is the exclusive source of this premium organic honey in the US.

Most commercial honeys available on the market today come from bee farms, where the bees are controlled within a certain area and get their pollen from usually only one kind of flower. Many of the plants that produce these flowers (clover, orange blossom, etc.) are grown with pesticides and fertilizers as well. In addition, almost all honeys on the market are pasteurized in high heat and filtered, removing many of the beneficial nutrients and enzymes.

Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey has not been subjected to the heat of processing, only warmed enough to flow (same temperatures the honey would see inside the hive). We select only premium honey that is pure, smooth and creamy, with the consistency of soft margarine. It contains live yeast and enzymes, because it has not been processed. It also contains pollen because it has not been filtered - merely screened.

Fine textured crystals are characteristic of totally pure, unheated, unprocessed, raw honey. Properly crystallized honey has a fine, smooth texture. Crystallized honey preserves natural goodness and doesn't drip. The more rapidly honey crystallizes the finer the texture will be.

In order for honey to be certified organic, the beehives must be placed in isolated areas miles from the dense population, industry, traffic congestion, and farm fields treated with chemicals and landfills. Second, a bee's flying range is determined by their natural instinct which tells them to stay within their natural four mile range from the hive location. Finding area which can be certified organic is extremely difficult, which is why there are so few certified organic honeys on the market. Tropical Traditions sources its honey from hives in the wild frontier areas of Canada.

These regions are a rich source of wild vegetation that produce some of the finest honey in the world. The USDA and Canadian Organic Certification implies a rigorous set of standards and conditions that must be adhered to by both the producer (beekeeper) and the packager. All aspects of the honey production including the source of the nectar, forage area of the bees, management of the bees, extracting process, transportation, 'lot' management, processing temperature, integrity (no co-mingling with non-organic honey), screening, and, packaging materials, are taken into account in the certification process.

Try some, and we think you'll agree that there is no finer honey in North America!

ALL MOISTURIZING LOTIONS: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE ENDS SUNDAY
All of the moisturizing lotions that Tropical Traditions offers are made with organic Virgin Coconut Oil and organic Virgin Palm Oil. No other products on the market are made with finer oils as their base. Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil is traditionally made from fresh organic coconuts, and independent laboratory tests show that it has a higher level of antioxidants than other coconut oils (see: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/professordiacertificate.htm). Virgin Palm Oil contains high concentrations of a powerful form of Vitamin E called "tocotrienols" which published research has shown is 40-60 times more potent than alpha-tocopherol (the most common form of Vitamin E found as an additive in most skin care products.) In addition to these powerful Vitamin E tocotrienols, Virgin Palm Oil is also rich in natural carotenes. It is one of the richest natural plant sources of carotenes with concentrations of 500-700 ppm. It is 15 times more retinol-equivalent than carrots and 300 times more than tomatoes, for example.

In addition to using only the best oils available for the skin, all other ingredients used in Tropical Traditions moisturizing lotions are 100% natural. These lotions are all hand-made, and contain no alcohols, no artificial fragrances, and no petroleum products. Because we recognize that many have sensitivities to fragrances, we offer an unscented version. For our scented lotions (Baby Silk, Lavender, Citrus, Peppermint, and Arnica) we only use high quality organic essential oils which are distilled with low temperature and low pressure over an extended period of time. Low temperature and lower pressure have proven to be the most effective method of obtaining all of the essential constituents from the plant, and provide our products with the very best quality fragrances available.

These lotions surpass most designer brands in quality and purity, and yet they are priced for every-day use.

Now, through Sunday, August 22nd only, you can buy 1 lotion at the retail price, and get the second one FREE! For example, the retail value for 2 bottles of Lavender lotion is $43.00, but now you can buy 2 for only $21.50!! Order here:

ORGANIC SCENTED BAR SOAPS: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE ENDS SUNDAY
Tropical Traditions Organic Bar Soaps are made from our Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. Our Tropical Traditions Organic Scented Bar Soaps are 100% pure and handmade with organic essential oils. These soaps produce a very rich lather.

Now, through Sunday, August 22nd only, you can purchase one bar and get the second bar for FREE. That's two for the price of one! Order here:

NEW SALE: ORGANIC COCONUT CREAM CONCENTRATE 32 OZ.: BUY 2 GET 2 FREE.

Order here:

2 GALLONS OF GOLD LABEL VIRGIN COCONUT OIL ONLY $99.00 ENDS THURSDAY
Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is the same Virgin Coconut Oil that Tropical Traditions has sold for the past 7 years, and has now been enhanced to the point where we have developed even higher standards for the production of this premium Virgin Coconut Oil.

Now, through Thursday, August 19th only, you can purchase two gallons of certified organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions for only $99! The suggested retail price for two gallons is $220.00! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm?s=b81610

50% OFF ORGANIC RAW HONEY

Now, through Sunday, August 22nd only, you can purchase a 17 ounce glass jar of this premium honey for 50% off the retail price! The normal retail price is $17.50, but now you can get it for only $8.75. Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_raw_honey.htm?s=b81610
