58% OFF EXPELLER-PRESSED COCONUT OIL GALLONS ENDS SUNDAY!
Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, is made from high quality coconuts in the Philippines. This is the "common" type oil that millions of people in Asia consume on a daily basis. It is less expensive than our certified organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil because it does not include the cost of organic certification. We get our Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, non-certified, from unpolluted areas of the Philippines where pesticides and fertilizers for coconut palms are virtually unknown. The coconuts typically come from very rural areas in the Philippines, far away from major urban centers. It is also deodorized and processed the "old" way with "physical refining" that DOES NOT use solvent extracts. This is the most economical high-quality coconut oil we sell. Expeller Pressed Coconut oil is less expensive than Virgin Coconut Oil because it is machine made, and because it goes through a steam deodorizing process the taste is very bland, unlike Virgin Coconut Oil which retains the odor and taste of fresh coconuts. Some people prefer a bland, tasteless oil.

Now, through Sunday, November 22nd only, you can buy 2 gallons of Tropical Traditions non-certified Expeller-pressed coconut oil at 58% OFF the retail price! That is a $120.00 value for only $50.00! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/expeller-pressed_coconut_oil.htm?s=b111909

44% OFF ORGANIC PALM SHORTENING ENDS SUNDAY!
Palm shortening is derived from palm oil. In its natural state, palm oil is a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, with most of the unsaturated fat being monounsaturated fat. Palm shortening is palm oil that has some of its unsaturated fats removed, giving it a very firm texture, and high melting point. The melting point of our Organic Palm Shortening is 97 degrees F., making it very shelf stable. It is NOT hydrogenised, and contains NO trans fats! It is great for deep-fat frying and baking, and is not prone to rancidity. Since it has been separated from some of the unsaturated portion of the oil, it is colorless and odorless, and will not affect the taste of foods like Virgin Palm Oil does. If taste is needed in applications, then Virgin Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, or Sesame Oil can be added for great-tasting baked or fried foods!

Although scarcely used in the US any longer, palm oil is the most heavily consumed dietary oil in the world after soybean oil. If one were to exclude the US where most of the world's soybean oil is consumed, palm oil would be the most popular dietary oil in the world. Palm oil traditionally has been used for baking, shortenings, margarines and deep fat frying, as it is shelf stable with a high melting point and does NOT require hydrogenation. Therefore, it contains no trans fatty acids. Saturated fats, such as tropical oils like palm and coconut, as well as butter, have traditionally been considered healthy fats and oils. In modern history, commercial interests have condemned saturated fats and replaced them in the American diet with polyunsaturated fats that are hydrogenised and contain trans fatty acids, which most people now consider harmful. These trans fatty acids were banned in some European countries as early as 2004, and food label laws in the US just recently forced manufacturers to list trans fats in their products. Some cities in the US are now banning trans fats in restaurants as well.

Tropical Traditions Organic Palm Shortening comes from small scale family farms in South America. These farmers are certified by ProForest, which ensures that they meet strict social, environmental and technical criteria. With regard to environmental criteria, the assessments are carried out at the landscape and operational level at both the farms and processing facilities. These assessments cover environmental impact on the soil, water, air, biodiversity and local communities. The lands the farmers use are not lands that were deforested. The lands used to grow the palm fruit are lands previously used for agricultural purposes (cattle, rice, banana).

Now, through Sunday, November 22nd only, you can purchase a gallon container of Organic Palm Shortening for 44% OFF of the retail price of $35.75, for only $19.85! This is a great, healthy shortening to use for holiday baking! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_palm_shortening.htm?s=b111909

NEW PRODUCT: DOUBLE BONDED CHOCOLATE GOAT MILK PROTEIN POWDER
Double Bonded Protein combines the best of both worlds in protein supplementation. A natural blend of both casein and whey proteins trigger incredible muscle building stimulation while simultaneously inhibiting factors that lead to muscle breakdown. Goat's milk and goat's milk proteins are absorbed by the human digestive system in a far superior way to that of cow protein. Double Bonded Protein is an unrefined fusion of both casein (milk) protein and whey protein. Whey protein triggers the formation of new muscle and casein (milk) protein inhibits the destruction of previously created muscle. Supplement with just one of these proteins and you will be missing out on the crucial benefits of the other. This is why 100% whey protein isolate consistently disappoints. The ability of it to trigger new muscle growth is second to none, but when natural "proteolysis" (the breakdown of previously created muscle) begins, whey isolate has no defense. Enter casein. Casein inhibits proteolysis and keeps the muscle that you have worked so hard for right where it needs to be; on you! Double Bonded Protein is just what you need to reach the next level of muscle gain. Read more and order here: http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/double_bonded_chocolate_goat_milk_protein.htm

SOY FREE EGGS SURVEY ENDS SUNDAY!
Tropical Traditions completed a study on a test flock of egg-laying chickens this summer that were raised on our Cocofeed. Lab testing done on commercial eggs from chickens fed soy show that the soy protein appears in the egg yolks. Tests done on the eggs from our chickens fed our Cocofeed which contains NO soy showed no soy protein present. In addition, the eggs from our chickens contained almost twice as much Omega 3 fatty acids than the leading brand of organic eggs on the market.

If you are interested in purchasing soy-free eggs from chickens fed Cocofeed in the future, please help us gauge this interest by taking a short survey, which will take less than 60 seconds here: http://tropicaltraditions.wufoo.com/forms/soyfree-eggs-availability-survey/  This is a completely anonymous survey and no personal information will be collected.

40% OFF ORGANIC STONE-GROUND FLOUR ENDS THURSDAY!
Great River Organic Milling uses old fashioned stone wheels to grind their grains. Conventional millers today use steel grinding mills, and they "temper" grain before grinding it by soaking the grain in water so they can "pull" the bran layer apart and take out the germ and endosperm. This produces a white flour that has a long shelf life. Great River Organic Milling, on the other hand, is one of the few granite stone millers left in America. They use a slower process with less heat involved, and nothing is removed from the grain. All the nutritional components of the grain go back into the bag. These flours are made to order in Wisconsin especially for Tropical Traditions, and have been used to craft some of the finest artisan breads in the United States. Organic Stone-Ground Flours: Whole Wheat Pastry Flour, Unbleached Wheat Flour, Whole Wheat Bread Flour, and Brown Rice Flour.

Now, through Thursday, November 19th, only, you can purchase a 5-pound bag of stone-ground flour for 40% off the retail price! For example, the normal retail price for Whole Wheat Pastry Flour is $15.89, but now you can get it for only $9.53.

ORGANIC COCONUT CREAM CONCENTRATE 16 OZ.: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE ENDS SUNDAY!
Coconut Cream Concentrate is certified organic whole coconut meat in concentrated form. It contains no additives (not even water). The dried coconut meat is ground into a very fine powder, giving it a creamy consistency due to its high fat content. Since it is 70% fat, it is a rich source of pure virgin coconut oil. Note: this is a food, not a cooking oil.

It is an excellent ingredient for cooking and baking. Because of its low moisture content, it can be mixed right in the batter or dough of breads and pastries. It can also enhance soups, be blended with smoothies, or made into ice cream. Many people just eat it straight, or spread it on breads and crackers, because it is so delicious!

Now, through Sunday, November 15th only, you can purchase 1 pint at the retail price and get the second pint FREE! The normal retail price for two pints is $32.00, but now you can purchase 2 pints for only $16.00! Order here:

32% OFF GRASS-FED BISON PATTIES ENDS SUNDAY!
Our source for bison products comes from northern Wisconsin where the animals are grazed on prairie grass. The animals are 100% grass fed, and are also "finished" on grass. The products offered here are from the same buffalos that supply top-quality bison to many fine restaurants and shops across the U.S. Now you can have this premium source of meat delivered directly to your home! Grass-fed animals have been shown to be higher in Omega 3 fatty acids than grain-fed and finished livestock. CLA is also an essential fatty acid found primarily in grass-fed animals. Some studies have also shown that grass-fed bison contain up to 4 times more selenium than grain-fed bison.

Bison contains more protein in relation to calories than beef. Bison are very hearty animals and are genetically a purer strain of red meat than most other meats. Bison do not have to be kept in barns, and can survive very harsh winters, finding grass to eat even when buried by a couple feet of snow! Bison is a very healthy, traditional source of meat in North America. And this is the premiere source of Bison in the U.S.! Most other sources of Bison are NOT 100% grass-fed, but include grains in the feed as well. These bison are NOT treated with hormones or antibiotics. They are naturally healthy and hearty animals. We only process our bison in the late spring through fall when they are grazing on green grass.

Now, through Sunday, November 15th only, you can purchase 12 packages of ground Bison Patties at 32% OFF the retail price. These patties of premium grass-fed Bison are 1/4 lb. each, and you will receive 48 patties. The normal retail price on this package is $103.20, but now, the price is slashed to only $69.60! That is only $5.80 lb. (plus shipping) for pre-made grass-fed Bison Patties! Order here:

57% OFF ORGANIC COCONUT WATER VINEGAR 32 OZ. ENDS SUNDAY!
The water inside the coconut shell is packed with nutrients that nourishes the nut as it prepares to germinate and start growing into a new coconut tree, which is exactly what would happen if you let a coconut fall from the tree to the ground and leave it there, given the proper moisture and soil conditions. Coconut water is high in many vitamins and minerals, especially potassium. Because it contains electrolytes, it is considered one of the best natural rehydrating drinks in the tropics. Pasteurized coconut water retains most of the minerals, and is frequently sold as a sports drink. Since fresh coconut water deteriorates so quickly once it is exposed to air, it is best obtained and consumed in the tropics where it can be purchased fresh, with all the nutrients and enzymes in tact. Packaged coconut waters must be pasteurized, destroying some of the nutrients. It has been reported that during World War II coconut water was used in emergencies as IV fluids, since the nutrient-packed water is completely sterile inside the coconut until the hard shell is cracked and it is exposed to air.

In the Philippines and other tropical places, raw coconut water is often left in the open air to ferment, where it eventually turns into a vinegar. The fermentation process enhances the nutrients, unlike heat pasteurization. The acidic environment prevents the growth of undesirable bacteria naturally. Tropical Traditions worked with professors at the University of the Philippines for several years to develop an incubation system that could produce clean coconut water vinegar from our certified organic coconuts (used to make our Virgin Coconut Oil) and retain the mother of vinegar (a colony of bacteria cultures) as a truly raw product. We use the mother of vinegar to inoculate future batches of organic coconut water vinegar.

Organic Whole Muscabado Sugar
We use only certified organic Muscabado whole cane sugar in the fermentation of our vinegar, grown by a cooperative of small scale family farmers in the Philippines. The sugar is also Fair Trade certified. Muscabado sugar is a whole sugar that is extracted from the sugar cane using traditional methods. It contains all the natural nutrients found in raw sugar cane or molasses. Sugar is needed in the fermentation process, and most other vinegars are made with refined white sugar. Our Muscabado whole cane sugar is a deep brown in color, which gives a brown coloring to our vinegar. While the sugar is needed in the fermentation process, it is used up during fermentation and there is no sugar content left in the vinegar.

A Truly Unique Vinegar!
Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Water Vinegar is truly unique and is the first of its kind in the US market! Most vinegars are clear because they are distilled and originally made from white sugar. Our Organic Coconut Water Vinegar is not distilled, but raw. It contains the mother of vinegar. In the Philippines most all commercial vinegars are distilled, and the "coconut vinegars" are not made from the nutrient-packed coconut water from inside the coconut, but from the sap of the coconut tree which is used to make lambanog, an alcoholic drink similar to vodka. These "coconut vinegars" are by-products of the lambanog industry. To make these products, one must harvest the sap of the coconut tree from the coconut flower bud, which would normally become a fruit-bearing coconut. Hence, trees dedicated to harvesting the sap for lambanog and the more common coconut vinegar will never produce coconuts. Tropical Traditions does NOT support coconut products that prevent coconut trees from bearing fruit (this would include "coconut sugar" harvested from the flowering bud of the coconut tree.) Coconut trees in the Philippines have been on the decline for decades, and the coconut oil from coconuts is also now valued as a fuel source in bio-diesel production, resulting in less coconut oil availability as a food source each year. Vinegar made from coconut water, however, does not sacrifice coconuts or coconut oil in its production, as it is collected from mature coconuts which are used to make coconut oil, and the same trees can continue producing coconuts year after year.

Tropical Traditions is the first company to make a truly organic product from the water of organic coconuts which is raw and fermented with fair-trade organic Muscabado whole cane sugar. This is one of the most nutrient-packed and healthiest vinegars you will find anywhere in the world!

Now, through Sunday, November 15th only, you can order a 32 oz. size for 57% OFF the retail price! Order here:
http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/organic_coconut_water_vinegar.htm?s=b111209

NEW SALE: 40% OFF ORGANIC STONE-GROUND FLOUR

NEW PRODUCT: ORGANIC COCONUT PEANUT BUTTER
Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Peanut Butter is made from organic peanuts and organic coconut. Two ingredients: nothing else! No fillers, no binders, no sweeteners, and no preservatives. The peanuts are 100% organic Valencia peanuts grown organically by family farmers in New Mexico and Texas. Grown in the dry climate of the southwestern United States, these peanuts are certified organic and free from aflatoxins. The dried coconut is certified organic coconut meat from the Philippines from coconuts that are grown with no fertilizers or pesticides. This premium dried coconut contains no additives or preservatives, and is not sweetened. Unlike most dried coconut on the market, our dried coconut products are not treated with sulfites to keep them white. Together, these premium organic roasted peanuts and the premium organic dried coconut are ground together to make a delicious and nutritious spread! Packaged in 16 oz. glass jars. 46% OFF WHOLE PASTURED CHICKENS ENDS THURSDAY!
What makes Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry different from other chickens?

1. Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry are raised outdoors on pasture.
Commercially produced chickens are raised entirely indoors with tens of thousands of other chickens in close quarters. They typically never see the sun or pasture. Organic or "Free Range" chickens also have no standard definition or industry guidelines for how long chickens must be outdoors on pasture, leaving the consumer very confused. The USDA definition of "free-range" is rather vague. In order to label their meat and poultry "free-range or free-roaming", "Producers must demonstrate to the Agency that the poultry has been allowed access to the outside." (1) No mention of vegetation (pasture) is made. Poultry producers themselves seem to have no common standards on what the term means. Some producers interpret "access to the outside" as a small pop-door (chicken door) on an end-wall of a 100 ft. long shed filled with un-caged birds moving about freely on a litter-covered floor. Others feel they are compliant with the spirit of free-range if their birds are outside in the open air and under the sun; even if their "range" is simply bare dirt.

When it comes to the consumer's perception of "free-range", arguably the vision that "free-range" most often conjures is of a bird happily hunting and pecking in the grass in an open field. Because of the wholesomeness associated with the term "organic," many consumers take for granted that all certified organic poultry raised for meat and eggs are raised outside on green pasture. Sadly, this is not so. The term "free-range" is not even listed in the NOP (National Organic Program) "terms defined."(2) They do give guidelines that say: "All organically raised animals must have access to the outdoors..."(3) So when someone purchases poultry products labeled "free range" or "organic," the birds may never have actually seen the light of day or green grass its entire life. Technically, they simply have to have a door out of their confinement, but they don't have to necessarily walk through that door to meet the requirements.

2. Tropical Traditions pastured poultry are fed Cocofeed which contains no soy.
Cocofeed is an organic chicken-feed ration developed by Tropical Traditions that contains coconut pulp as well as other high-quality natural ingredients. The coconut pulp is the residue left over after coconut oil has been extracted from the coconut meat. Cocofeed contains NO soy.

In tropical cultures, coconut has been a traditional ingredient in chicken feed for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The coconut pulp residue left over after coconut oil was extracted from the coconut meat is still a common animal feed component today in places where coconuts grow. This coconut pulp is high in fiber and protein. Mechanically extracted coconut pulp was also approved by the FDA as an animal feed and listed in the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials, Official Publication) as early as 1955. While coconut cannot supply ALL the nutritional needs of chickens, there are multitudes of studies that have been done in the Philippines and elsewhere showing how coconut pulp can be a major component of chicken feeds when combined with other quality ingredients. Some of these studies are more than 50 years old.

In more recent history, with the development of fast-growing "broiler" factory chickens, soy has become a key ingredient in chicken feeds for the purpose of supplying a high concentration of protein to promote fast growth. It is very difficult to find a chicken in the US market today that has not been fed high soy-based feeds. Even chickens advertised as "organic" or "free range" are almost always fed an organic mixture high in soybeans.

Independent laboratory tests have shown that Tropical Traditions pastured poultry chickens raised on Cocofeed contain lauric acid, which is also found in coconut oil and human breast milk.

3. Tropical Traditions pastured poultry are raised by family farmers.
Tropical Traditions Pastured Poultry chickens are all raised by family farmers. These farmers run diversified farms practicing sustainable agriculture. They will rotate tracts of land with crops and other animals, or let it go fallow from time to time. When a batch of chickens is raised on a piece of pasture, typically that pasture will not see chickens again for two or more years. In the interval, crops may be grown in that pasture, or it may go fallow allowing grass to grow, die, and decompose so that the soil is kept in balance and not contaminated from too much chicken manure. So when you buy Tropical Traditions pastured poultry, you are supporting small-scale family farmers and by-passing the system that produces the conventional "factory chicken."

Now, through Thursday, November 12th only, you can save 46% off of our retail price for 3 whole chickens averaging 4 lbs. each. Order here:
http://www.grassfedtraditions.com/pastured_poultry.htm?s=b11909

GOLD LABEL ORGANIC VIRGIN COCONUT OIL QUARTS: BUY 1 GET 1 FREE ENDS SUNDAY!
Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is the same Virgin Coconut Oil that Tropical Traditions has sold for the past 6+ years, and has now been enhanced to the point where we have developed even higher standards for the production of this premium Virgin Coconut Oil. It contains the highest levels of antioxidants. While almost all Virgin Coconut Oils sold in the US are mass-produced, Tropical Traditions still produces their Virgin Coconut Oil by hand in small batches by family micro enterprises. Most of them have been producing Virgin Coconut oil for over 6 years. They have learned what it takes to produce the highest quality oil, such as how to hand pick the best coconuts from each harvest.

Their most recent discovery in 2007 came when certain groups in rural areas had problems with water sources. Water is needed to make the coconut milk from which the oil is extracted. Using true Filipino ingenuity, they started collecting and using the pure nutritious coconut water from inside the organic coconuts instead. They noticed that the water separated from the oil much quicker, that less heat was needed at the end, and that less filtering was needed also. The end result was a higher quality and better tasting Virgin Coconut Oil. Independent laboratory analysis shows that this new method produces even higher levels of antioxidants than first tested in 2006 by Professor Dia, which showed our Virgin Coconut Oil to contain higher amounts of antioxidants than any other Virgin Coconut Oil they had tested. So we now require all of our Virgin Coconut Oil producers to use the pure coconut water from their coconuts instead of boiled or purified tap water. This enhanced Virgin Coconut Oil with the highest levels of antioxidants is now our Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil.

Now, through Sunday, November 8th only, you can purchase 1 quart of certified organic Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil from Tropical Traditions at the regular retail price of $37.50 and get a second quart for FREE! That's a $75.00 value for only $37.50! Order here:

50% OFF GRASS-FED BEEF NEW YORK STRIP STEAKS ENDS SUNDAY!
Grass-Fed Traditions currently supplies 100% grass-fed beef from small-scale family farms in Wisconsin. Our cows are all grass-fed Angus and Galloway (mostly Galloway). How do we define "grass-fed?" The cows are on pasture, not in feed lots eating silage. They are also finished on grass, and do not eat grains at all. We don't process animals in the Winter or early Spring, when they are only eating dry grass. Our animals are eating green grass right up to the time of processing, and are dry aged before packaging. Many sources of "grass-fed" beef today are simply from cows in feedlots eating silage year round.

The CLA Advantage
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a naturally occurring free fatty acid found mainly in meat and dairy products in small amounts. CLA was discovered by accident in 1978 by Michael W. Pariza at the University of Wisconsin while looking for mutagen formations in meat during cooking. The most abundant source of natural CLA is the meat and dairy products of grass-fed animals. Research conducted since 1999 shows that grazing animals have from 3-5 times more CLA than animals fattened on grain in a feedlot. Simply switching from grain-fed to grass-fed products can greatly increase your intake of CLA. (Dhiman, T. R., G. R. Anand, et al. (1999). "Conjugated linoleic acid content of milk from cows fed different diets." J Dairy Sci 82(10): 2146-56.)

Omega 3's
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid for human growth and development. We must have it to be healthy. Grass-finished beef is a great source for this essential nutrient. The source of Omega 3 is the green leaves of plants. When cattle eat their natural diet, beef becomes a great source of Omega 3. Grain is not a rich source of Omega 3, so standard, cattle-finishing practices cause the Omega 3 level to decrease dramatically.

Galloway Cattle
Galloway cattle are an ancient breed that originated in the rugged hill country of southwestern Scotland. They are related to the Angus which was developed in northeastern Scotland. While the Angus was selected for rapid growth on better feed, the Galloway was selected for its ability to thrive on poor forage in a cold wet climate. They were first imported to the states in the 1850s. They are still rare in North America, and worldwide only number about 10,000. Their popularity is now increasing with the renewed interest in grass-fed and grass-finished beef.

The Galloway, unrivaled as a grazing breed, utilizes coarse grasses frequently shunned by other breeds. They have the ability to produce a high quality beef product directly from grass. Due to the breed's naturally dense, insulating coat the Galloway does not layer on excessive outside fat. Results of a multi-breed research project conducted by a Canadian Government Experiment Station, reveal that the Galloway ranks second only to the Buffalo in hair density tests. The robust, hardy nature of the Galloway is especially suited for northern harsh climates. The claim that Galloway beef is juicy, tender, and flavorful is substantiated in recent USDA tests of Galloway crossbreds, when compared with eleven other breeds. Results of the Cycle IV Germ Plasm Evaluation (GPE) Program at the USDA Meat Animal Research Center (MARC), Clay Center, Nebraska, showed the Galloway crosses placing at the top of the chart for flavor, juiciness and tenderness.

Now, through Sunday, November 8th only, you can purchase 8 New York Strip Steaks (1 inch thick), 6 lbs. average, for 50% off the retail price. That's a $132.00 retail value for only $66.00. Order here:

NEW SALE: 46% OFF WHOLE PASTURED CHICKENS

Now, through Thursday, November 12th only, you can save 46% off of our retail price for 3 whole chickens averaging 4 lbs. each. Order here:
